....

When praying in a storm… CHOOSE YOUR WORDS WISELY!

We cry out: “Where is God in this storm?”… the answer should be… IN ME!!! He is in my heart and in my mouth!

Paul, who knew a lot about surviving storms said this…. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, BY PRAYER AND PETITION, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, WILL GUARD your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. [Philippians 4:6-7] He is making the point that what we say in our storm is important. What we declare has power. What we pray is significant. Who we trust determines how it will end.

DON’T FOCUS ON THE DISASTER… FOCUS ON JESUS!

--How you pray in your STORMS reveals a lot about what you believe, who you trust and what you expect. I know the natural urge is to complain, speculate, get angry and expect the worst, but that will not bless you and that is not what God wants us to do. The reality is that whatever you draw near to will draw near to you. Whatever you say in your crisis you will believe. Our words are magnets. That’s why drawing near to God is the best way to pray. [James 4:8]

  • NEGATIVITY calls the storm.

  • DOUBT lives with the storm.

  • HOPELESSNESS expects the storm.

  • PESSIMISM accepts the storm.

  • ANGER empowers the storm.

  • FEAR hides from the storm.

BUT………. I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise(prayer) shall continually be in my mouth. [Psalm 34:1]… there will be no room for other words… NOW>>>

  • FAITH speaks to the storm.

  • CONFIDENCE laughs at the storm.

  • PEACE ignores the storm.

  • REST lets the storm wear itself out.

  • HOPE sees the end of the storm.

  • JOY celebrates before the storm leaves.

  • WORSHIP lifts and carries people over the storm.

  • JESUS subdues our storm.

  • GOD is our refuge and safe harbor in the storm.

We have this assurance… GOD HEARS OUR PRAYERS! -

We know that God does not listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does his will, God listens to him. [John 9:31] For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. [1 Peter 3:12, Proverbs 15:29] We know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His plan and purpose. [Romans 8:28]

In the hands of God our storms can be the best thing to ever come into our life. How we choose to pray in the midst of our storm will determine if we will allow God to use this storm to be the birthing place of our next BREAKTHROUGH, MATURITY, MIRACLE and TESTIMONY.

So today watch your speech and do not pray as one who has no God! Pray purposefully into what you really want to draw near to!

The storm may not immediately go away, but as your gaze shifts from the storm to God something amazing will definitely start to happen. Trust me … this is what God does!

Let faith in your God produce a peace that stills every storm in you and around you.

Now choose your words well! … and speak life!
