DON’T LET THE DEVIL SHH YOU!

Don’t let opposition silence what God told you to preach.

And they commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. [Acts 4:18] The Scripture goes on to say, “…the religious leaders renewed their threats…”. Here we have Peter and John being told… STOP PREACHING! The religious people wanted to block them from telling people what Jesus had done. They denied them a pulpit in the hopes of keeping them quiet. They had already been warned, accused and shamed, but when the threats failed to silence them, they simply came back and threatened them again.  

In this world people will often criticize, command, shame and block you from releasing the word God has given you to preach and teach. They will use fear, treat and caution to slow you down. I asked the Lord this morning why that is. He said they don’t want people to hear your sermon. They want you to say less, write less and most of all release less. They want you to slow down and quiet down. The devil will imprison you, put you on a sick bed, shame you, have jealous people block you from ministering and do whatever he can to stop you. WHY? Because when you preach people receive life giving help, power and freedom. They hear Jesus and are saved. The last thing the devil wants is for you to keep preaching. So he sends you into difficult seasons surrounded by people who tell you to slow down. He is happy for you to receive a WORD… He just doesn’t want you to release it!

I heard the Lord saying:

WHEN I GIVE YOU A WORD don't let the enemy EVER silence your voice or gag you. You have the words of life. They are not only for you to keep to yourself… they are for the benefit of others. You carry the words that set captives free and make devils run. Don’t let the devil shh you! Whatever means you have… speak it… write it… post it… publish it… sow it! Refuse to be kept quiet. If people block you or tell you there is no place for you to preach… don’t believe them. I will always give you a means to deliver My WORD. When I give you a word, I will always give you a pulpit. Now understand not all pulpits are in church. Use whatever I have laid before you and preach. Never stop until I tell you to. Preach the word shut up in your bones. Preach the message burning in your heart. Freely you receive now freely give the WORD I give you.

Whenever there is a true word needing to be released… you will always encounter spiritual resistance and natural forces telling you to slow down. Don’t let the enemy succeed in shutting you up or cut off your preaching. If in prison… preach! If on a sick bed… preach! If going through a challenging time… preach! Whatever way you can… through whatever means you have… don’t stop preaching.

When I give you a WORD… PREACH it! Don’t be silenced. When I send a WORD, I have no intention for that WORD to fail. There is salvation and deliverance living in My words through your life. That’s why there is such a strong push to stop My word from being released through you at this time.

“What shall we do to these men? For, indeed, that a notable miracle has been done through them is evident to all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it. But to stop this thing from spreading any further among the people, we must warn them to speak no longer to anyone in this name.” But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” [Acts 4:16-20]

I love about Peter and John: the threats were renewed, but so was their determination to preach Jesus. They had been warned repeatedly. They understood that continuing to preach could cost them something and invite opposition, but they had encountered a risen Christ, and no threat from man could silence what God had placed within them. Opposition did not change their message. Pressure did not cancel their calling. Threats did not determine their obedience.

Yesterday, I was told that questions had been raised about why I have written and released so many books over the past few years. What some may forget is that before this season of physical struggle, I preached a fresh sermon almost every week and regularly taught classes. Preaching and teaching the Word have been part of my life for years. So why should it suddenly seem unusual that the sermons I once preached from pulpits are now being preached through pages? My answer is simple: I may not be given as many pulpits in this season, but I will NEVER stop preaching!

Paul declared in Romans 1:16, “I am not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.” If the Gospel is still the power of God unto salvation, then why would I become silent? How will people hear and believe if nobody is passionate enough to tell them? Why would I allow a difficult season to silence the message God has placed within me? The platform may change. The method may change. The season may change. But the Gospel has not changed, and neither has the call to preach it.

Keep preaching Jesus. Keep declaring truth. Keep telling people what God has done. Keep pointing people to Christ. You were never called to preach only when it was popular, convenient, or applauded. You were called to be faithful.

If God has given you something to say, don’t allow opposition to convince you to become silent.
